Shipping to Ethiopia? See these restrictions.

According to the USPS site, shipping to Ethiopia involves very few restrictions.

  The most notable restriction is that used clothes may not be shipped via USPS. 

Platinum, gold, silver and precious stones are prohibited. The website mentions prohibitions against   other valuable articles, but does not list what these articles are.

  4. securities payable to bearer
  5. traveler's checks
  6. manufactured and  non manufactured platinum
  7. gold
  8. silver
  9. precious stones
  10.  jewelry

Restrictions


Cassettes, video tapes, books, and magazines require authorization of the Ministry of Information and Education.


Merchandise valued more than 50 Birr require authorization of the National Bank.


Prepared foods and beverages, used clothes, medicines require authorization of the Ministry of Public Health.
Observations


1. Letter-post items may not contain dutiable articles.
2. Postal authorities of Ethiopia may collect domestic postage from addressees for inbound shipments.

Ethiopia.
