Freight Shipping Returning to Normal in Europe

Posted on Fri, Apr 23, 2010

Pack n send is updating information about  freight movement throughout Europe.  With air traffic returning to normal freight is once again moving throughout Europe.

As we receive updated information, we will continue to post it on our website.

The current article was taken from Handy Shipping Guide

UK - One of the UK's largest  movers  of export airfreight shipments, Air Menzies International (AMI), has reported that they are getting shipments back on track after the disruption caused by the eruption of Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano last week.

As more air lines re-establish normal operations in Europe, AMI state that they are rapidly clearing backlogged cargo at their warehouses, mainly thanks to their holding of large amounts of pre-booked space aboard flights, and are able to accept new booking and cargo consignments.

Sharon Wright, AMI's Vice President Europe, said: "Now the airlines are flying again, our pre-booked allocations with most major carriers will help to move our customers' traffic quickly."

She added that this situation should serve as a warning to both industry and the authorities on the importance of contingency planning saying that:

"Hopefully we have all learned some lessons. Airlines - particularly freighter operators - need to look at ways of working around a problem like this, by quickly adopting alternative gateways outside the no-fly zone, which we could then feed by road.

"On a government level, there must be a Europe-wide contingency  plan  in place, should such a situation ever arise again."

Freight Shipping 2010 vs 2009

Posted on Fri, Apr 09, 2010

A short synopsis of an article published by Ronald D. White

Pack n send is summarizing this article. It  recaps some of the declines in the US economy in the freight industry during 2009.

Luckily, indicators are showing more freight movement and an increase in drivers wages during the first quarter or 2010.

Freight trains carried  20% less cargo in  2009 than in the previous year.

The nations railroads had their worst year in decades in  2009.  This signified  a drop in demand for coal, lumber and other goods.

Freight trains carried 20% less cargo during 2009 than in 2008 according to the Assn of American Railroads.

Probably the most dramatic decline was  33% decline in lumber and wood products carried by train.  This does relate to the decline in new construction during 2009.

Fewer car and auto parts were moved during 2009.

Pack n send has noticed and increase in freight demand during 2010.

Estate shipping: Advice From Houston Freight Company

Posted on Wed, Dec 09, 2009

Shipping an estate can be quite complicated. An estate may include cars, furniture, and other large pieces. Items may need to be shipped to various different addresses of friends and family members.

For this reason, we recommend you follow these four tips to help you find a shipper, but also send goods to multiple receivers.

1. Your estate shipper should send it all. When looking for a company to ship items for an estate, it is important to make sure that they can ship everything, including your fragile goods, as well as furniture and cars.

2. Your shipper should send to multiple addresses. Your estate shipper should pick up your estate items and deliver them in the city, or that ships both domestically and internationally.

3. Find a shipper that brings supplies. Do you have the boxes and packing materials needed for your estate? Your shipper should have those goods on hand, just in case you want to save money and pack your own goods. If your shipper can bring boxes and supplies, family members can pack items should they choose to do so. This gives them the opportunity to save on packing costs. Items like clothes and books usually do not need professional packing.

4. Tell the truth on value. Value the items for what they are actually worth, not at an inflated sentimental value.

If we can answer any of your estate shipping questions, please call us at at 713-266-1450 or contact us for a free shipping quote.

How to Find the Right Store to Sell Your Items on Ebay

Posted on Mon, Oct 26, 2009

Finding a reputable store to list your eBay items can be time consuming. Consumers need to know the right questions to ask.

Does the store know how to place the correct title and category on your item?

Does the eBay seller list AND ship your eBay item? Proper and timely fulfillment is essential to successful eBay selling.

Does the eBay seller only accept items that are allowed to be sold on eBay? If they're breaking eBay rules, their account could be suspended and your investment of time and money would be lost.

Does the eBay seller research each item to make sure they are both pricing your item correctly and checking on what prior items have sold for? Proper research is required in order for your items to sell and to make you as much profit as possible.

Does the eBay seller list multiples of the same items? You do not want your items to be bidding against themselves.

Does your eBay seller re-list if your item doesn't sell the first time? At this time, you can tweak both your price as well as your description.

Does your eBay seller have positive reviews from customers in past eBay sales?

Does the eBay seller take their own pictures, or try and copy pictures already on eBay? Stock pictures often do not show any special markings or enhancements of an eBay item. Customers need to see the exact item they're buying. Better pictures will always sell the product faster and usually at higher prices.

Make sure the eBay seller asks you for a truthful description. If an eBay item has defects or is not in operating condition, then the item needs to be listed with these defects. Buyers should know exactly what they are purchasing. A returned item due to dissatisfaction is not a good eBay sale.

If you are trying to sell a car on eBay, does the eBay seller ask you to see the title before the sale? Do they let you know that the vehicle needs to be ready for a purchaser to see, touch and take the auto to a garage for an inspection?

Does the eBay seller have a secure, safe location to store your eBay items? Does the store provide an alarm system and carry insurance on their store.

These are just a few questions you should ask when researching a store that will sell your eBay items. Pack n Send has helped individuals sell their personal items and family estate profitably on eBay. If we can answer any of your eBay selling questions, please call us in Houston at 713-266-1450, or visit our eBay Listing page.

Posted on Sun, Sep 20, 2009

shipping for destination weddingOur shipping customers vary widely, from art dealers and hospitals to families and estates. However, shipping wedding gifts is among some of our most unique jobs.

Shipping wedding gifts is a challenging task. Most gifts are given in their original packaging. For electronics and kitchen accessories, we keep the items in their original packaging and pack them in boxes with Styrofoam peanuts. For more fragile items, such as chinaglass, and crystal, we have to remove all pieces from the original packaging. Each item is carefully prepared for shipping to adhere to our strict standards.

All packages are insured for their full value and shipped via FedEx or UPS. For weddings in Houston where the bridge and groom are moving elsewhere, we've handled the entire household in addition to wedding gifts.

As a result of our 25+ years experience and friendly customer service, we've had many satisfied brides and grooms refer us to their friends and family. Let us know if you have a wedding approaching. We'll be happy to serve all your shipping needs.
